Our History

Mega has a long and proud history and we have never forgotten our roots; starting with 5 western Canada independent Retailers in 1965 known as V.I.P. Stores established in Saskatoon SK. and now growing to over 700 like-minded members that value and take advantage of our Collaborative Advantage.

Mega maintains fruitful partnerships with more than 400 vendors, having established trust through over 55 years of perfect payment record. Our vendor partners are global, market-leading brands that understand the importance of the independent retailer.

They support Mega as their essential service provider and recognize our role as the key connection point with the independent channel. These connections come with a proven track record of performance and results. Today, we continue to build a unique symbiotic and vendor centric role that is beneficial to all parties in their efforts to grow and thrive.

Charitable Work

Mega is a company that cares about its communities and that is why we maintain a long-standing partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada.

Over the years, we have provided beds and appliances to Ronald McDonald Houses across the country and have sponsored several fundraising events.  Mega is proud to support an organization that has such a positive impact on so many lives in our members’ communities across Canada.

Executive Leadership Team

Chris West
President and CEO

As the most senior executive, Mega’s President and CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors and provides overall leadership and direction for all aspects of Mega Group to achieve the Company’s mission. Chris will be responsible for the organization’s attainment of its financial objectives and in ensuring Mega’s strategic and operating objectives are achieved in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors.  He will provide strong, effective, and highly visible leadership to members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) as well as the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Kevin Leier
President and CFO of Mega Financial Services

As the President and CFO of Mega Financial Services of Mega Group, Kevin is responsible for oversight of the Financial Reporting, Credit, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Accounting/Operations of the company.

Marie-Soleil Calvert
Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing

As Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing, Marie-Soleil leads a team whose mission is to help Mega’s members grow and succeed, by developing a winning merchandising and marketing strategy, in addition to strong partnerships with suppliers.

Marie-Soleil and her team create value for members by developing the best commercial strategies.

Erika Fox
Vice President of Human Resources

As Vice President of Human Resources, Erika leads the people and development team, with mission of building and growing high performing leaders, teams and culture at Mega Group.

Don Burnett
Vice President of Retail Sales and Service

As Vice President of Retail Sales and Service, Don leads a nation-wide team of business development managers who engage with and support our valued members across Canada.

Don and his team are responsible for growing Mega’s overall membership and for supporting Mega’s members to grow sales and improve overall store level performance.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is made up of highly skilled and seasoned retail executives from across Canada that represent the entire membership of Mega Group. The Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on a three-year term with approximately one third of the Board elected each year by the membership. The Directors are given the authority to direct the company and its executive leadership team on behalf of the shareholders, with an ultimate responsibility to all Mega stakeholders.

The Board’s focus and alignment is to collaborate with management on the strategic vision of Mega Group to make members stronger and grow profits while protecting the longevity of the company.
