THANK YOU to all participants for making this event a success! POWER UP, Mega Group’s National Convention, took place at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Hotel on the scenic Vancouver waterfront this June 14th and 15th. Mega Group members and suppliers came from across Canada ready to enjoy these 2 days of inspiration and collaboration. And it was mission accomplished: all were absolutely Powered up at the end of the Convention!

In his welcoming speech, Chris West, President and CEO of Mega Group, stressed our team’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the business of all Mega members. He shared that this event was a great opportunity for everyone to renew relationships, learn and take advantage of exclusive deals.
Showroom and Stampede
And there were plenty of deals! This year’s showroom was our biggest ever with a record number of 58 vendors on site. Mega’s suppliers clearly demonstrated their desire to do business and maintain a close relationship with our members, as reflected by their strong presence and the number of special offers. Again this year, the incredible deals would have been enough to justify members’ presence at the Convention.
Speakers & Platinum Sponsors Educational Sessions
Attendees heard from RBC economist Nathan Janzen, who provided an instructive perspective on the Canadian economy and its impact on retail in the coming months. The 2024 Power Up Convention was sponsored by numerous suppliers, among which our Platinum sponsors Ashley, Whirlpool, Tempur-Sealy and Phoenix. Each addressed our members and shared their exclusive insights into the industry.
Hall of Fame

Mega’s Hall of Fame is now becoming an iconic moment of the Convention. Wayne Hambly is the 2024 inductee, adding his name to those of Konrad Kozan and Richard Kulberg on Mega’s Hall of Fame wall.
This year also marks the first time that we have paid tribute to one of the builders of our company. Benoit Simard, Mega’s CEO from 2008-2019, received this highly deserved distinction.
The first recipients of the Ovation Award were also celebrated. The award recognizes individuals for their resilience and contributions to their business and community. It was presented with much pride to Nina Johal and Mindy Sandhu , from Sisters Gallery and Stereo Warehouse.

An important part of our convention is the opportunity to meet retailers, vendors and Mega staff in a casual setting. This year’s format hit the mark with its Casino Royale theme and culinary stations. The glam without the fuss was much appreciated by all who were able to meet and mingle in a fun atmosphere.
In keeping with tradition, we appealed to the kindness of our members, who responded generously with donations to our charity of choice, Ronald McDonald’s House Charities.
Closing the convention, Kevin Leier and Marie-Soleil Calvert, both part of Mega’s Executive Leadership team, shared with all members present an overview of the Mega strategy for the coming months.
Next Year
Next year, Mega will be celebrating its 60th anniversary. Be prepared for an energy-packed Convention in June 2025 in Toronto!
